Jupiter is a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts, with its lush parks, remarkable nature preserves, and top-tier golf courses. This seaside oasis is home to numerous nature trails, each one boasting its own unique amenities. From hiking and mountain biking to bird watching and simply immersing yourself in Mother Nature, Jupiter’s five best scenic trails are definitely worth checking out.

Blowing Rocks Preserve

574 Beach Road Hobe Sound, FL (Jupiter Island)

Located in the beating heart of Jupiter Island is The Nature Conservancy Blowing Rocks Preserve, a verdant and peaceful respite claiming to have the longest stretch of rocky limestone shore in Florida. The preserve features a plethora of natural wonders, including hammock trees, mangroves, and beach dunes.

Hikers and nature enthusiasts can visit the beach and explore the preserve’s cave-like rock formations during low tide. During high tide and turbulent water, hikers will see the water rush up through the rocks, sometimes as high as 50 feet, creating a blowhole effect perfect for photographs.

The preserve’s path leads through an incredible tunnel created by branches of sea grapes. Emerging from the tunnel, hikers will find a vast shoreline covered in picturesque limestone rocks. During nesting season, visitors may even spot sea turtles lounging in the dunes.

The preserve’s trail continues at Hawley Environmental Center, where nature lovers will follow a porch to stairs leading to the Lagoon Trails on the Indian River Lagoon before looping back to the beginning.

Jupiter Outstanding Natural Area (ONA) North Trail

601 State Route 707 Jupiter, FL

Lush greenery and a chance to see Florida’s diverse flora and fauna are found at the Jupiter Oustanding Natural Area North Trail. This trail begins along a paved sidewalk just moments from the lagoon. From there, hikers will immerse themselves in nature as they head toward the Intracoastal Waterway. After a short distance, hikers will cross a boardwalk surrounded by tall lush trees and vines. At the end of the boardwalk, nature enthusiasts will find a pavilion offering beautiful, jaw-dropping views of thick vegetation and the Indian River Lagoon’s placid waters. This portion of the hike is approximately half a mile in length.

Jupiter Outstanding Natural Area (ONA) South Trail

601 State Route 707 Jupiter, FL

The Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse Outstanding Natural Area’s South Trail spans a mile and boasts a mulch surface. This pedestrian-friendly path winds through thick, vibrant shrubbery until opening at the meeting point of the Indian River Lagoon and the Loxahatchee River. Here, guests can enjoy the site’s so-called “Hammock Hangout,” with numerous hammock trees providing ample shade and opportunities for hikers to attach their hammocks. Reenergize with a homemade picnic lunch underneath the trees, or read a book and simply enjoy the quiet ambiance — the possibilities are endless.

Upon reaching the bluffs, hikers can catch breathtaking views of the Indian River Lagoon and its distant boat dock. The area features several benches available for visitors to sit and admire the stunning landscape and nature surrounding them.

Limestone Creek Natural Area

6570 Church Street Jupiter, FL

The Limestone Creek Natural Area’s tranquil expanse of natural beauty covers an impressive 53-acre plot surrounded by bustling commercial and residential developments. Visitors can enjoy a leisurely walk along the well-maintained, paved trail that wanders through the lush woods, leading to an observation deck and a pier.

For the more adventurous at heart, unpaved trails take hikers deeper into the preserve, allowing them to discover the mesmerizing Florida ecosystem that encompasses the cabbage palm hammocks, marshes, and scrubs that live there.

Jonathan Dickinson State Park - Hobe Mountain Trail

16450 SE Federal Highway Hobe Sound, FL

The Jonathan Dickinson State Park is open daily from 8:00 a.m. until sunset. Like all state parks in Florida, there is an admission fee to enter. Inside the park is the ever-popular Hobe Mountain Trail, a short hike winding through nature along a flat, elevated boardwalk. The boardwalk leads to a 27-foot-high observation platform and tower, where you can climb the steps and experience 360-degree unobstructed views of the Atlantic Ocean, the flat woods leading up to the Loxahatchee River, and Hobe Mountain, the tallest dune south of Lake Okeechobee.

Along this tranquil trail, you’ll find a variety of Florida flora, such as multicolored cypress trees and slash pines, as well as the Intracoastal Waterway, which looks like nothing more than a thin line of blue in the distance. Looking south, hikers will see awe-inspiring high rises along Juno and Jupiter Beaches. Once conquering Hobe Mountain, visitors can say they have climbed one of Florida’s most iconic mountains.
